5 Best BBQ Spots In The Triangle

5 Best BBQ Spots In The Triangle

Image title

All right, I don’t know about you guys, but BBQ is something I’m super passionate about.  If you ask any local where the best spots are, you’ll get just about as many answers as there are BBQ sauces. So, I’ve narrowed it down to my favorite five. (Which was undeniably hard to do, y’all!) Of course, I haven’t tried every single spot in the area. So tell me, what is your favorite barbeque in the Triangle?

Clyde Cooper’s BBQ

If you’re a fan of Authentic Carolina Style BBQ then this is your spot. They have some of the best hush pups I’ve ever had. And don’t forget to try their pork skins. To me, this is what makes them stand out significantly from any others. I mean, how often do you see pork skins in a restaurant? Come here for excellent prices, delicious food, and all the tradition you can handle.

Danny’s BBQ

Conveniently placed in 3 locations in the Triangle (Cary, Morrisville, and Durham), Danny’s is easy for anyone to get to. It’s a cross between fancy/hole-in-the-wall and is perfect for a family outing! Danny’s has it all from NC style bbq, turkey, chicken and mouthwatering brisket. They have 3 different kinds of sauce based with vinegar, mustard or tomato. And don’t forget to try their collards!

The Pit

Fine dining and BBQ? Sounds crazy, right? Well, here you’ll think nothing of it because they pull it off beautifully. They get all their pork from local farmers who raise the hogs in pastures (Yay, happy hogs!) The Pit has also been featured on the Travel Channel, The CBS Morning Show, The Today Show and the Food Network! You can even reserve a table online. In addition to delicious BBQ, they also have their own style of various Southern specialties. Don’t leave without trying their cheesy bacon grits!

In my opinion, this is the best craft beer shop and independent BBQ shop in the Triangle. I really don’t think you can get much better. For what it lacks in size and seating, it makes up for in their brisket, collards and TO DIE FOR smoked potato salad. Not to mention, all their BBQ is farm-to-table, which rates them an A+ in my book. Go, as a matter of fact, go now, and say “hi” to Big Mike for me!

Backyard BBQ Pit – Durham

Let the smell of smoked meat lead you into this fabulous family-run establishment. It’s a pretty neat place. The walls are completely covered in writing, so you can grab a marker and sign your name or something creative. The sandwich special--which consists of pork barbecue, cole slaw and two sides, will cause you to leave with a full belly for under $5.50. And don’t even get me started on their stewed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, candied yams, fried cabbage.
