A Lazy Daze Event Is Here

Although it hasn’t felt like it, believe it or not it’s August and you {mls: http:/www.townofcary.org} residents know what that means? It’s time for the Annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival. This will be the 37th year of the event and it will be held this Saturday, August 24, 2013 from 9am-5pm.
If you’ve never been before, take the short drive from Fuquay-Varina or Wake Forest and enjoy the day there. Sunshine Artist Magazine didn’t rank it as the top one-day festival in the Nation for Craft shows for nothing. It’s located in the historic downtown Cary area and features a huge array of arts and crafts for sale from over 300+ vendors.  They showcase everything from decorative paintings and blown glass to metal & wood sculptures.  There are food vendors, a Kid’s World with children’s entertainment and two large stages with entertainment going all day long. There is free parking at the Cary Town Hall Parking Deck (2 blocks from the festival) and the Cary Towne Center mall (free shuttle buses to the festival).
A word of caution... With over 50,000 people visiting in one day, it can tend to be a little crowded so plan ahead. Bring plenty of water, snacks and the smallest stroller you’ve got. I made the mistake of bringing a large one my first year and it very challenging to get around the crowds.  Regardless of the amount of people, it’s a lot of fun to wander around viewing and buying some of the best art that North Carolina offers!
