The number of American working from home is now in the millions making the need for a home office less a luxury and more of a necessity. Rising energy cost and increased time in traffic is making telecommuting the best and most productive way to work.
Work space is no longer the kitchen table or the corner of a guest bedroom; we have now promoted it to a space and room of it’s own. If you are wanting to create a home office space or spruce up your existing one here are a few points you may want to consider.
Match Your Work Style
Match the way you work when choosing furniture and layout of your home office. If you like everything to be in it’s place make sure to allot enough storage and file cabinets. If working on several projects is more your style allow room to set up smaller work stations dedicated to each project.
Separate Your Space
Although you are working from home it is important to design your home office to draw the line so home and work life do not blend together. You will be much less tempted to take television or laundry breaks in the middle of your day or work when you are to be away from the office.
Make it Comfortable
Being comfortable in your workspace is conducive to being productive. The use recessed lighting and desktop lights that dedicate light to task areas that are used for reading to reduce eye strain. Physical comfort is key in productivity. A small couch or armchair for guest seating or to provide a reading area away from your desk. Make sure your desk chair has adjustable and well cushioned for comfort.
Your Style, Your Environment
Bright colors and clean lines or dark woods and rich colors “one design does not fit all”. Here is your chance for your work space to reflect your interest and personality. Restrictions on what you believe a home office should look like no longer apply. Make it your own: You are the one spending most the time there.

When it comes to providing the utmost in personal service to his clients, Peter Kima is on the cutting edge. This family man's demanding work ethic was passed on from his parents. His mother, a first generation German-American, forged a new life in a strange country. His father, who has not missed a day of work since 1972, led by example. Peter does not rest until he's done everything in his power to help you achieve your goals. As a husband and a father, his understanding of the importance of a family's home is reflected in his every move.
When Peter is not helping one of his clients, he can be found volunteering his time running a charity Lobster Bingo event, cooking burgers at the local Fire Station to benefit the children in the community, delivering dictionaries to every 3rd grade student in Wake County with his Kiwanis Club, collecting school supplies for the needy, or ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. His favorite pastime, however, is spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and their two sons, Cole (12) and Camden (9 going on 20!).
Peter has resided in Germany, California, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oregon and Vermont. Having lived in North Carolina for over 10 years, Peter refers to North Carolina as home. Don't underestimate the value of Peter's moving experience. He and his team understand the rigors involved in making a family move. Rely on that experience to help you.

"Kristine and I would like to extend a sincere "thank you" for all your efforts in our home buying experience. During this entire experience we have come to look at you as more of a "friend" than just our real estate agent. The way you followed through with both written and verbal commitments is an honorable trait that you should be proud of. It makes us feel good to know that there are agents that go the extra mile like you have done for us. "
