2021 The Year Of Consistency
Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying basic fundamentals.”
- Jim Rohn
COVID, what a year, maybe you felt like you took two steps forward and one step back, or maybe you felt like the year was an eternal pause, or maybe you did not miss a beat, whatever the case, YOU MADE IT. If you are looking to make 2021 the best year yet, keep on reading and while I don’t guarantee earth shattering results, massive action, dedication and consistency have not hurt anyone!
While I am no Les Brown, Napoleon Hill or Eric Thomas, I am a big “fan” of them and believe that anyone can become successful when they apply consistent and persistent action within a system.
What separates the good from the great, the one hit wonders from the legends? One word... Consistency.
Consistency is not defined as perfection but as resilience, refusing to lose. It is about actualizing and following through the process which leads to greatness. We must fall in love with the process and instill actions consistent with our goals to achieve massive success. The wonderful thing about the process is that it refines us to who we are supposed to be and allows us to grow in all aspects of life, personally and professionally.
In any venture or position of leadership consistency is the gateway to success. A duplicable success system allows leaders to rise to the top because leaders understand the power of a system and do not attempt to re-invent the wheel. Discretionary use of the system is the enemy of consistency. If one is discretionary with the system then one will have discretionary results and minimal if any success. One cannot be wishy-washy in their thought process, in short NO MORE STINKIN’ THINKIN’. Consistency maintains your message and allows you to be authentic. Success leaves clues and when you surround yourself with others who have blazed the trail you receive a catapult forward.
Find out what works and stay the course no matter how long that takes, as Thomas Edison once said, “ I have not failed, I‘ve just found 10,000 ways which won’t work". A leader allows a mentor to guide them and then Plan, Do, Check and Adjust. Action is great but Correct Action is even better. Many a person gets distracted by jumping at every wave and the “wave” actually turns out to be just a mirage. Don’t lose before you even get started. Success is just hard enough to keep the feeble minded from achieving it.
In business, consistently producing results and helping g others achieve their dreams and goals will keep you in business. On a personal level, staying consistent to your beliefs and ethics will help guide you in all aspects of life. In a world of wanna-be’s, why not be who we are called to be and have nothing to hide, nothing to prove, and nothing to fear. Be real! The easiest way to stay true to yourself is to run your decisions through your value system. Your values will guide you and allow you to.
Consistency is about getting up one more time than you’ve been knocked down. As Rocky said, "nobody hits harder than life, take a hit and keep moving…" Success is intentional, break it down, and if you must, go with the hours not the days and do not let your dream and vision perish. We all want to win but at what cost? Consistency tests your heart, dedication, and vision. Is your vision big enough for you to push through when the going gets tough?
A few of my favorite authors and leaders if you are looking for more content to apply are David Meltzer, Jon Gordon, Aubrey Marcus, Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar and many more.
If the dream is big enough the facts don’t matter. I believe in you and you got this!
