Christmas Events in Fuquay Varina
Christmas
in Fuquay Varina
If you are like most people including myself,
you really enjoy the holidays. For me it
has a lot to do with the people I get to see around Christmas that I don’t
always get to see during the year. It
also has to do with all the delicious special foods that get made this time of
year. I know my tradition is to gain
about 5 pounds from Thanksgiving through New Years. If you live in southern Wake County, you will
want to also partake in the fun festivities offered in Fuquay Varina. Check out two of my favorites below:
Fuquay
Varina Tree Lighting and Sleigh Rides
This annual event will take place on Thursday, November 29th from
6:00-8:00. Come on out to the municipal parking lot on the corner of Main St and Vance St to see the town tree and
lights get turned on at 6:00pm. Following
the tree lighting, you will have an opportunity to enjoy choral performances by
school groups from the various schools of Fuquay Varina.
Also, the big man himself, Santa will be on
hand for some serious lap sitting and present wishing. Hot chocolate and cookies are typically found
not too far away. Horse drawn sleigh rides will also be
available for $3/ticket and are on a first come first serve basis. This is brought to you and sponsored by the
FVDRA (Fuquay Varina Downtown Revitalization Association). For full details on all of these events, you
can visit www.fuquay-varinadowntown.com.

Christmas Parade
The 2018
Christmas Parade will take place on Sunday December 2nd starting at 3:00pm. In the past, the parade started outside of
downtown on North Main Street and made its way through downtown. This year there have been some changes to the
route to be aware of. This year, the
parade will start at the corner of S. Fuquay Ave and E. Academy. (next to
Fuquay Tire). The route will take the
parade south toward the main Fire Department and then toward Main St to proceed
back north up through town and all the way up Main St to Woodrow St near CVS. Here is a link to the complete Parade Route.
