Gearing Up For Peanut Butter And Jelly Donations For April

An astonishing fact to me is that NC is in the Top 10 for the highest percentage of hungry citizens and that one in four children in NC are “food insecure.” Let’s bring it home a bit, 3 of 4 teachers in Wake County report that they have hungry children in their classroom at least weekly. 36% of NC food pantries have been forced to close at some point due to lack of food. These stats are from NC. Association of Feeding America Food Banks.

While I would love to eradicate hunger completely it is not within my current means; however, that does not mean that you or I cannot do our part in helping, which is why we at Kima Real Estate Group are partnering with the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry, for the month of April and stocking the pantry. 

The Food Pantry is located at 149 E Holding Ave in downtown Wake Forest. Their hours for pick up are Mondays and Wednesdays and the second and third Saturday of each month from 10:00am to 1:00 pm. I am sure they could also use volunteers and donations to help distribute and to keep the pantry stocked. 

Our initiative coming up in April here at Kima Real Estate Group is to collect as much peanut butter and jelly as humanly possible so that we can donate it all to the Food Pantry. Why peanut butter and jelly you ask. Peanut butter and jelly is a simple meal for a child to fix and also contains protein which is a vital nutrient. 

We partner with the food pantry every year in April and this year will be no different.  Per Michael, from the ministry, they serve approximately 1,000 families a month and peanut butter and jelly is one of their most requested items. A few fun facts about the pantry is that they are the largest food pantry in the Wake Forest, Youngsville, and Rolesville area. In 2021 alone, The Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry fed 11,578 families, fed 26,918 people and 1,157,800 pounds of food were distributed. 

Our core values here at The Kima Real Estate Group include having fun, serving the community, and making a difference. This initiative incorporates all of those traits and values and we want to partner with you in making a difference!  We want to take this opportunity to make an impact on our local community and think of not only the food pantry, but also all of the recipients, and understand that we are blessed to be a blessing to others! We cannot do this without your help and we need all hands on deck for this initiative of filling the food pantry with peanut butter and jelly. 

How can you help? A plethora of ways, first and foremost, if you are local, bring peanut butter and jelly by our office starting in April, our office is located at 881 Falcate Drive, Wake Forest. If you are from out of town and would like to donate, reach out to a team member and we can facilitate a PayPal or another form of electronic donation. Lastly, share this drive with your friends and family! 

Let’s make this peanut butter and jelly drive the best ever for donations at the Food Pantry! While we may not be able to help everyone, we definitely will be helping someone and that help could change their world and quite possibly our world too!
