Get Ready To Grub From A Ghost
Get Ready To Grub From A Ghost
In the spirit of Halloween, since today is Halloween, let’s talk about ghosts, not eerie ghosts or getting ghosted after a first date, we are talking about one of the newest ventures that will be gracing Wake Forest, and one of my favorite topics to write about food, especially good food, we are talking about Ghost Kitchens, specifically The Flavor District which will be opening soon in Wake Forest in the old Golden Corral building, which is located at 11016 Capital Blvd, Wake Forest.
You’ve probably have heard of Ghost Kitchens but if not, they are a spot where chefs, bakers, entrepreneurs, both small and large brand restaurants can utilize to cook their food and then deliver it straight to the customer or to traditional dine-in restaurants. The beautiful thing about the ghost kitchen concept is that there are a variety of cuisines to ensure that people with different tastes and palettes all have the ability to eat, think dad wanting a burger and a kid wanting ice cream. The Flavor District will house the restaurants but when it comes down to billing the customer it is on a single bill, eliminating the headache of paying multiple vendors even if you order from multiple vendors.
Ghost Kitchens are a great opportunity for aspiring restaurants to get an inside look the business and utilize the opportunity which the ghost kitchen provides to lower over. The kitchen could be seen as a building block as these owners decide which path their business is best suited for, a traditional brick and mortar setting or a food truck. As the pandemic threatened to obliterate the industry, this way of doing business gives each restaurants flexibility and a good way to manage expenses and allows them to be more profitable.
Often times ghost kitchens are just that, ghosts, not in a negative sense of the word but more behind the scenes and a mystery; however, the location of the Flavor District is right off Capital Blvd in Wake Forest and just a road over from North Raleigh. This exposure is to help with business as well as putting the customers mind at ease with exactly where their food came from as well as the convenient location in efforts to help with picking up their food. The ghost kitchen market is predicted to reach as high as $1 Trillion dollars by 2030 so it looks like the Flavor District is on the right path and I know that the citizens of Wake Forest and Raleigh are great at supporting local so I see no reason why this place will not thrive.
The Flavor District in Wake Forest will house several restaurants, here are the names, Oink N Moo, City Dogs and Stuff, The Cooking Mama, Tommys Sushi, Vics Pizza, Gaisa Kitchen, Femme Formage, Greens N Goodness, Jerk Man Island Cuisines, Thaiphoon Thai Cusine, Taburete Venezuelan Cuisine, Boricua Soul, and Butta Burger. I do not know about you but I could make a full week of meals out of this place and still find something to eat the next time I order. This Ghost Kitchen is set to be the largest one in the triangle and I cannot wait for it to open. As of yet, I have not heard of a specific date but ensure to follow The Flavor District on Instagram in order to stay up on the latest and greatest news and updates.
I am super excited for more food options in our area as well as the opportunity to help support local businesses, if only those calories which were consumed in support did not count but that will not stop me from eating and supporting!
