Holiday Light Displays in the Triangle

With the first snowfall of the year, Winter has officially arrived in the Triangle, with it comes the tradition of people across the country covering their yards and home in lights, blow up characters and other Holiday decorations. Some Triangle residents even decide to decorate their cars with lights. Some homeowners chose to get a little more serious about their decorating than others. The question is, where can we find these light displays? Let's find out!

Chinese LanternFestival

The Chinese Lantern Festival is one of the more popular light shows around the Triangle. This will be the fourth year of its existence and we should expect nothing but their best show yet. They are adding an additional 20 new displays.

The farm is, as you can imagine covered in enough lights to decorate an entire neighborhood full of houses to the extent of the National Lampoon Christmas house! Tanglewood Festival of Lights

While this one goes “beyond the Triangle”, it is well worth the trip! The Tanglewood Festival of Lights is located in Clemmons, NC on Tanglewood Golf Course. This year begins is the 27th year of continuation! This light show features a route that you families drive though in personal vehicle. This light show is a personal favorite of mine, due to it being the primary light show that family/ friends and I would attend during my High School years. So while it may be close to a 2 hour drive from Raleigh, if you have to time to make the drive, I think this is the one to go to. The light show includes what’s more than a 5 mile track including what’s got to exceed displays in the triple digits. According to their site, they have close to 250,000 attendees every year, if that’s any testimony to the level of awe you will find here! It should be noted though, if you plan to make the trip to go see this show especially on a weekend, build in some waiting time! Since a 4 hour wait is not unheard of for a busy Saturday night visit. Tanglewood Festival Light show also offers the visits with Santa!

Where: Tanglewood Park. 4061 Clemmons Rd, Clemmons NC

When: November 26th- January 1

Admission: tickets start at $15
