We ALL Scream for ICE CREAM!

Once every 6-8 weeks my husband and I like to treat our kids to what we call an "ice cream dinner". Our boys, who are 7 and 3, LOVE when we skip the "real" food and go straight for ice cream. Life is short, and memories are important. This is a fun one for our family! Now that Spring is officially here and the weather is trying to warm up (I know it's coming!) I'd love to share with you a few of our favorite spots in the Wake Forest area.

1. Lumpy's Ice Cream
Owner, Buck Buchanan, has a background in fine dining, so it's no wonder he is committed to using only the finest ingredients in his ice cream - locally-sourced hormone-free milk, fresh fruits, no additives, and no artificial colors. Lumpy's hit the map in 2011 and in March 2013 they opened their doors in Wake Forest.
Just a few of the flavors offered, though not all at the same time, as the rotation is ever-changing, are: Georgie's Fuzzy Peach Dream, Bennie's Bacon and Bourbon (oh yes!), Charlie's Cheesecake, Red's Rum Raisin, Kelly's Coffee Cookie, Penelope's Pistachio, and WAY MORE! You can really taste the difference in Buck's ice cream, and everyone in the shop is always so friendly.
Check them out as soon as you can. Run, don't walk, to 306 East Wait Ave in Wake Forest! They're closed on Mondays, open 11-9 Tuesday through Thursday, 11-11 Friday and Saturday, and lastly, 1-9 on Sunday.

Dairy Depot is a locally-owned shop in the Heritage area of Wake Forest that has been in business since 2002! Kids and adults alike will love the vibe at Dairy Depot, where all dining takes place outside after ordering at the window, or via drive thru.
While Dairy Depot of course has the traditional cones and cups, Sundaes, and shakes, they are best known for their "Train Wrecks". A Train Wreck is your favorite ice cream flavor blended with any number of awesome toppings such as Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Covered Cherry, Red Velvet, or Banana Cream Pie.
As the weather gets warmer you'll definitely want to stop by Dairy Depot for a great treat while you chat with your family or your community neighbors! You can visit at 3433 Rogers Rd. Monday-Thursday 11-9, Friday 11-10, Saturday 12-10, and Sunday 12-9.

While Scoops on Main isn't in Wake Forest anymore (it's now just over the Youngsville border) I can't leave it out because it's our family's favorite. The feel of this ice cream shop is so "down home" you can't help but love it.
Scoops on Main serves Hershey's ice cream, and it is so amazing. If you only try ONE flavor ever, it must be the Banana Pudding. It's the flavor that made me fall in love with Scoops. In addition to awesome ice cream they also make shakes, Sundaes, etc. They have also started serving some quick service food items which is nice if you want to eat dinner first then have your ice cream.
If you're looking for a little entertainment with your treats you can enjoy the modern jukebox which plays anything from the oldies to brand new hits, or you can send your kids back to play a couple arcade games in the back!
Check out Scoops on Main at 116 E Main St. in Youngsville. They are open 7 days a week from 11-9.

If we didn't cover your favorite Ice Cream joint, don't fret. As it warms up i'll feature ice cream shops all over the Triangle. Let me know which ones I can't miss!
