North Carolina State Fair

The North Carolina State Fair which runs from 10/12-10/22 is an iconic event that draws in folks from all corners of the state, creating a vibrant tapestry of fun, food, and festivities. Nestled in Raleigh, our very own backyard in the Triangle area, the fair is a spectacle that captures the essence of North Carolina's rich culture.

Some features are the Antique Farm Machinery exhibit, the Flower and Garden Show featuring local growers and Heritage Circle with tobacco growers, folk dancers and cider house. 

Foodie's Paradise: For many, the fair is synonymous with indulging in gastronomic delights that push the boundaries of creativity. Imagine biting into a deep-fried concoction that's a fusion of southern comfort and carnival extravagance. No trip to the State Fair would be complete without some fried food.  This year you can indulge in deep fried ribs, brisket and waffles on a stick, deep fried cinnamon apple bread pudding bites or how about dill pickle donuts?!  Maybe you’d like to try an ostrich smashburger, bacon mac and cheese sundae or boozie cupcakes.

Making a difference: The Smithfield Foods Hunger Relief Day at the North Carolina State Fair, begun in 1993, is Thursday 10/19. On this day, fairgoers can gain free admission by bringing six cans of non-perishable food which will be donated to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. It's a win-win—attendees enjoy the fair, and the less fortunate benefit from the generosity. This not only fosters a sense of togetherness but also highlights corporate social responsibility. Smithfield Foods’ initiative has become one of the largest one day canned food drives in the state of North Carolina.
