Spring has arrived and while there are many perks to living in the Triangle, a few of my favorite things to do is check out local farmer markets and events, mostly surrounding food and music, in the area. In regard to the farmer markets is that essence of community which they exude. Not only are you support local but living here in the triangle the odds of you running into a familiar face are quite high. The same goes for events, the majority of people I know love a good food truck and live music. Let’s take a look at a few towns which have a farmer’s market as well as local events for you to check out this spring!

Let's start with that Wake Forest Farmer's market.   Featuring soap-makers, cheesemakers, farmers, crafters, bakers, and artists!  The current vendors own, operate and fund the market. Some of the products offered by current vendors include vegetables, micro greens, various meats, mushrooms, honey, cut flowers, plants and more.  They all come from within 75 miles of Wake Forest.  This is the true essence of local.   Located right behind town hall on Taylor Street in downtown Wake Forest, parking is plentiful. Brogden Farm, Gaia’s Kitchen and Catering and Shrooms2Grow are just a few of the featured vendors. The main hours of this farmers market are Saturdays 8-12.

Another highlight of Wake Forest from Mid-April til September on Friday Nights, is Friday Night on White. White Street is shut down and there are bands, food trucks, vendors and more filling the street. Check out more information in regard to one of my favorite things in Wake Forest, Friday Night on White!

Just a hop skip and a jump down the road is the Downtown Rolesville Farmers Market. The market season which kicked off in March, has  50 total vendors and hosts between 20 and 40 vendors each week. The market is open every Saturday, March 18th til October and the hours are 9-1. For all you dog lovers, the market is open to your furry friends!

Looking for an outdoor movie? Well look no further than “ Movies At The Middle” which is movie night at the Rolesville Middle football field, located at 4700 Burlington Mills Rd, Rolesville. The dates for this year thus far are, Friday April 21, Friday August 25th, Friday September 8th and Friday October 6th

Scooting into Raleigh, North Hills, has the Midtown Market. Their mission is to “create a vibrant, thriving farmers market in the heart of Midtown Raleigh, where the community can buy local, family-farmed foods, grown in a manner that sustains the land and our health.” All of the food, products and goods are sourced locally, no more than 100 miles, and are sold by the vendors themselves, there are no re-sellers here. The market opens April 15th and runs through November, on Saturdays and is open from 8-12. This is market is one you will definitely want to check out!

North Hills has a plethora of events; however, the Mid-Town Beach Music Series is one you will want to keep on the calendar. The Mid-Town Beach Music Series runs from April 20th – June 22nd on Thursdays and is from 5-9. There is no shortage of entertainment when you have bands like Spare Change, Chairmen of the Board as well as The Embers on the docket for this years season.

All of these Farmer Markets have their own unique feel and presence in the area but now we come to the Grande Finale, “ The NC State Farmer Market”. This farmers market is open year round and 7 days a week. The list of vendors is extensive and there is no shortage of local eats, meats, veggies and baked goods and the list goes on. 321 Coffee is near and dear to my heart and their original location is here as well! There are restaurants which are a local treat, my favorite being the seafood restaurant. Do yourself a favor and get here especially while the weather is nice!

Downtown Raleigh offers First Fridays. First Friday is celebrated on the first Friday of each month throughout Downtown Raleigh to showcase the best of our city's creative community. It is a good time and you will be glad you made to trip to downtown Raleigh.

The triangle and surrounding areas have no shortage of amazing people, products, produce, and positivity. I hope you enjoy these which I shared! With a little research I am sure you can find even more farmer markets and events which are hosted in and around our area.
