Here in the Triangle we are no strangers to "Year Round" school schedules. This type of schedule was created to help relieve overcrowding in our schools by not having all students and teachers in the building all at the same time. Whether you love it or hate it, it exists. One of the downsides that some parents cite is having to figure out care for their children on those 3 week breaks. Just for you, we have compiled a list of some of our FAVORITE track out camps!

Raleigh Options

1. Triangle Rock Club - Triangle Rock Club is a very cool option for track out camps. Keep those kids minds and bodies sharp with full day programs designed for children ages 6 and up. For just $225 kids get a full day of fun and exercise with a different camp theme each week.

2. AE Finley YMCA - We have many YMCA facilities across the Triangle, and all of them offer some sort of half and/or full day track out options for kids from 5-14. Typically these options include STEM activities, sports, swim days, and more. Each week has a different theme such as Super Heroes, S'More Fun, Construction Zone, and Under The Sea. Check out your nearest YMCA to find the best option and pricing for your student.

3. Camp Jellybeans - Jellybeans is a fun camp that I have first hand knowledge of after helping a friend run camps there for a few weeks a couple years back. Jellybeans includes field trips to parks and restaurants, and of course SKATING! Catering to kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade, this is a great camp for your Elementary School aged kids at just $175/week. (Jellybeans also has a Wake Forest location!)

Durham Options

1. Durham Arts Council - With cultural camps, mini-camps, dance intensives, and teen intensives, there is definitely something for all of your artists and performers from Kindergarten to 13 or 13-17 for teen intensives. You can expect a fee of $180/wk for most of these programs.

2. Old Mill Farm - If you have a kid who loves nature and the outdoors this is the camp for them! While they are done with their camps for the summer, you'd be wise to book out this cool camp for next year! It's pricier than most, but the experiences provided are once in a lifetime for most animal and nature lovers!

Wake Forest Options

1. Wake Forest Ninja Academy is the newest, and arguably the coolest track out camp in Wake Forest! With single day or full week options for kids from 5-14, this is one you won't want to miss. With ninja skills and warrior skill training, your kids are sure to come home BEAT after a full day of fun and exercise! At just $225-$250/week we think this one is money well spent!

2. Young's Gym - An oldie, but a goodie, we love Young's Gym! Another movement based track out camp, Young's Gym has both daily and weekly options for children from 5-12 years old. With a 7:30-5:30 schedule this is one of the longer camps in our area, great for parents who work far away or have longer days.

If you try and of these camps, or have some others to tell us about we would love to know!
