Triangle Farmers Markets - Wake Forest and More!
Triangle Farmer’s Markets
Did you know that there are 31 Farmer’s Market’s in the Triangle area?! 31!! Who knew?! I certainly did not and was surprised by this number. I knew of a few of them such as the large Raleigh Farmer’s market which is open year round and the Wake Forest and Durham but there were so many others that I was not even aware of. Here are a few of the ones I came across, some I’ve been to and absolutely love. Others I didn’t even know existed and will be making a point to check them out in the future!
State Farmer’s Market
1201 Agriculture St, Raleigh, NC 27603
5 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday
8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sundays
Raleigh home owners and even
those in other areas in the triangle this is one worth taking a few hours out
of your day to explore. Just about any local fruit or veggie you can think of
is sold here! Looking for fresh cut flowers, house plants or garden plants,
then this is your place! You will also find local meats, locally baked good and
specialty shops at the market. My one piece of advice, go early! The later in
the morning you go the busier it gets and trust me this place is ALWAYS busy!
Wake Forest Farmer’s Market
405 South Brooks Street, Wake Forest, NC, 27587
April-October: 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays
November-March: 10 a.m.-noon Saturdays
Those who live in Wake Forest of the surrounding areas you will want to check out the Wake Forest Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. Here you will find fresh produce from local farmers, seasonal items such as pumpkins and gourds, local bakers, cheese makers (always awesome when they have samples!) and locally made crafts such as knitted scarfs and hats. Located in downtown Wake Forest it’s worth making a morning of it and also checking out the local coffee shops!
Durham Farmers’ Market
Located in The Pavilion at Durham Central Park,
501 Foster Street, Durham NC 27701
April-November 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays
December-March 10 a.m.-noon Saturdays
April – October 12 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
Located in Durham which is a
bit of a drive depending on where you live but trust me when I say this is
simply one Farmer’s Market you do not want to miss! All locally grown produce!
Local meats, cheese, baked goods and crafts! The atmosphere is amazing and the
food vendors are delicious! Even if you don’t need anything grab a cup of
coffee from one of the vendors and enjoy walking around!
Cary Downtown Farmers Market
135 West Chatham Street, Cary, NC
April through November, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to
12:30 p.m.
December through March, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to
11 a.m.
I’ve never been to this Farmer’s Market but have heard nothing but awesome things regarding it! Like the other Farmer’s Markets mentioned you will find local produce, meats and cheeses as well as baked goods. You’ll find kid activities, vendors, and live music! This is another one where I have been told come early because of the crowds but don’t fret if you don’t as there will be plenty of local goodies to go around.
Holly Springs Farmers Market
128 South Main Street, Holly Springs
May through October, Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
November through April, Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (inside Holly
Springs Cultural Center)
Those of you who reside on the south side of the Triangle you’ll
find several Farmer’s Markets but I’ve heard the Holly Springs Farmer’s Market
is the one to make a point to go too! You will find locally grown fruits and
vegetables as well as meats and cheeses. You will also find baked goods, sauces
and crafts. Children’s activities to
keep the little ones happy and live music!
If your favorite Farmer’s Market is not listed, leave us a message in the comments below so we can check it out as well!
