Fall Is For Football & Food Trucks
Fall Is For Football & Food Trucks
Good bye Summer? No, not quite yet but fall is rapidly approaching and with that comes football, friends and venturing out to eat good food at food trucks, well you can do that year round but I like alliteration so here we go. Notice that I did not say pumpkin spice lattes, but I digress.
The triangle has many options when it comes to both football and food trucks. First things first, let’s get to football. The Triangle is ACC country and the two teams to keep an eye on are the NC State Wolfpack and the UNC- Chapel Tar Heels.
Coach Doeren has the Wolfpack ready for a big season. They have a lot of returning players and are expected to have a great year. They have several home games and you can find them at Carter Finley Stadium. Their home games this year include, University of South Florida, Furman, Clemson, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Syracuse and UNC.
Some players to keep an eye on offense, Running Back Zonovan Knight, Wide Receiver Emeka Emeize, quarterback Devin Leary and wide receiver Thayer Thomas. On the opposite of the ball, keep an eye on Linebacker Payton Wilson, Linebacker Isiah Moore, Defensive End Daniel Joseph, and Cornerback Shyheim Battle. Last but not least keep an eye out for Kicker Christopher Dunn, laces out!
Mack Brown is looking to compound on last year’s success. You can find them playing at Kenan Memorial Stadium. Their home schedule consists of Georgia State, Virginia, Duke, Florida State, Miami, Wake Forest, and Wofford.
Some players to watch on offense are quarterback Sam Howell and running back Ty Chandler. The defensive players to watch consist of Linebacker Tomon Fox, Linebacker Jeremiah Gemmel, Defensive End Tomari Fox, and Safety/Cornerback Trey Morrison.
Do not forget about North Carolina Central who got the spotlight on ESPN Game Day and pulled out a big win against Alcorn State, they will be a force to watch in the MEAC this year.
While Saturday in the fall is for college football, do not forget about Friday Night Lights, also known as High School Football. There are several powerhouses in the triangle so pick you team and buckle up for an exciting season!
One can definitely tailgate at one of the college games and I am not sure what is permissible at the high school games as far as grilling and eating in the parking lot so let’s move on to the next thing on the agenda finding a good food truck. These food trucks are not necessarily in proximity to the aforementioned schools but these are some of my favorite food trucks nonetheless.
If you know me then you know I love tacos and it is hard to boil it down to one but if you are in the Wake Forest area and looking for good street tacos FROM a food truck then ensure to check out Tacos el Gordo. They are located in Wake Forest at 927 Cloverleaf Park on the backside of Target. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu some of my favorites are the chorizo taco and the al pastor taco, if you know you know!
In my opinion, one cannot have the food truck discussion without mentioning Lawrence & Perry BBQ, https://www.lpquenc.com/ , when you craving bbq your best next step is finding out where their food truck is located. Some of my favorites on their menu is the Que Fries and you cannot pass up the Ribs & Wings Combo and ensure to add the mac and cheese as a side. The portions are hearty and I am sure that you will add these truck to your favorites.
When you are craving good hot dog, look no further than Rescue Dogs, their eclectic menu allows you to have a hot dog just about as many ways as you can think of. Ensure to check their schedule out and pay them a visit.
While I did not mention pumpkin spice, if you are craving it and find yourself around the NC Farmers Market, ensure to check out 321 Coffee, coffee for a cause and get a nice coffee and support a great organization! Get the deets here, https://321coffee.com/ .
I hope you check out these organizations and more and make this fall a great one!
