Gobble Til You Wobble!

If you’re anything like me, you are wondering how it could possibly be November of 2021 already. In just three weeks, there are going to be a lot of love-hate relationships going on in the kitchen and, hopefully, a lot of Instagram-worthy plates. Many households will be cooking up traditional recipes that have been passed down over the years. Whether they are truly worth of this longevity is another story, but I digress. We can all agree that the last 18+ months have been a volatile time for everyone, but especially for local businesses and restaurants that so many of us like to frequent. If, like me, you are looking to support local this year, I am going to spotlight a few restaurants and food trucks with special Thanksgiving offering this year. So, tell a friend to tell a friend, and get your orders in!
First up, if you know them you love them. Along with their BBQ, they offer ribs and other decadent dishes. That’s right: none other than LAWRENCE & PERRY BBQ. They have a large following online and you can find them on weekends at football games, apartment complexes, neighborhoods and local breweries. Well, this year they are showing up with some nice Thanksgiving options. The main event is a smoked turkey with a choice of either Cajun or Garlic and Herb Flavoring. A few special featured items are smoked pork ribs, sweet potato pie, sweet potato cupcakes and banana pudding. Please note the deadline to get your order in is Saturday November 13th. All the details you need to order can be found again at LPQNC's Holiday page. Bet on Que and your tastes buds will say woohoo!
Next up we find The Pickled Onion, located at 10750 Wakefield Commons Suite 109, Raleigh 27614. The Pickled Onion prides themselves on being open 365 days a year to serve their patrons, and that means they are ready to serve you on Thanksgiving this year. They will be open for sit down or take out dining, and the spread they're offering looks amazing. They've got turkey and ham as the main dish. For the sides you will find corn, green bean casserole, stuffing, sweet potato, casserole, and mashed potatoes. The sit-down option keeps you from cleaning up your own kitchen, but be sure to tip well: these employees are working hard for you. They will be serving plates until 5 P.M on Thanksgiving Day so plan accordingly. Don’t be fickle and get to the Pickle!
Out of sky miles or can’t make it to Cuba? Fear not, because Casa Cubana and team has you covered! They are holding nothing back on so many great meals and specials that it is worth the call or text to Randy (at 914.906.3787) to see what they are offering. They are offering a turkey meal which includes mashed potatoes, gravy, and sweet potato rolls. Want to explore your options? Then A Taste Of The Caribbean sounds like it will be right up your alley. This comes with a choice of meats such as pulled pork or jerked chicken, choice of rice or stuffing, beans, and a side. There are also turkey family meals, options for ham and authentic Caribbean desserts. Casa Cubana is located at 10901 Forest Pine Drive, Raleigh, NC 27614. The deadline to place orders is the 22nd of November; however, if you pre-order and pay in full prior to November 14th, you will receive 10% off your order. Don’t miss out with Casa Cubana and for your palate to “travel” to Havana!
Almost to “d” end, so that means one thing: Dessert! No Thanksgiving is complete without a pie or scrumptious dessert. If you have the hankering for sweets, run, don’t walk, over to Bakery La Dolce Vita, they are located at 14460 Falls of Neuse Rd Suite 165, Raleigh, 27614. Their list of desserts is extensive, and you cannot go wrong with one of their pies. They've got flavors ranging from apple to sweet potato and just about anything you can imagine in between. For your pie to be ready by Thanksgiving, ensure you get your order in by Tuesday the 16th. Things are “sweetah at Vita."
These are just a few of wonderful establishments in our community but I hope you enjoy! Wherever you eat your Thanksgiving meal and wherever it came from, we all have a lot to be Thankful for. I myself am thankful for my family, my friends, and my career, which allows me to serve this wonderful community.
