Wake Forest Is Growing...

The Wake Forest Planning Department is Busy!  How busy?  By my count there are 56 projects both residential and commercial that are in various stages of review and approval.  Sounds like our Planning Department deserves a nice warm cup of coffee from us, the residents of Wake Forest.  Especially with the weather coming our way this weekend!  LOL

Some highlights of projects:

The former Averette Road Subdivision, then Rosedale, is now called the Averette Road Assemblage.  There is a phase 2 plan calling for 66 lots.  All single family.  Tryon subdivision is right there and this is a part of that in some way.

Over there on Wake Union Church Road (Backing to St. Ives) we have a newer project in for review.  The plans show 193,000 square feet of commercial AND multifamily units (300 apartments) along with 89 townhomes.

Crenshaw Corners Drive is looking at getting a new building for Patronies Pizza.

Building is estimated to be 5800 square feet.

White Street townhomes is a project that has changed over time.  As we continue to look for infill opportunities to add people to our downtown district...this project is calling for 30 townhomes and 82 Multifamily units.  Where is this exactly?  At the intersection of East Holding and White Street.

Gateway Commons continues to grow,  A new office building is proposed for what is known as lot 10.

The town board has approved 12 townhouse lots on North Franklin Street.  Will be known as Forest on Franklin.

Carolina Chimney is occupying a 1925 square foot building on North White.

A large project that approved by the town board, Kinsley has submitted some plans.  The current request is to build 298 single family lots.  Eventually it will have 724 total units.

For you retired Lidl shoppers you may be interested to move into the proposed Reserve of Wake Forest.  Wrapping around Lidl they are proposing a residential care facility.

White Street Village is coming to downtown Wake Forest.  Do you know where the CVS is at corner of Wait and White?  That building will be torn down to erect a 2 over 2 concept of condos.  They will appear to look like townhomes but they will be condos.  Walkable to all the wonderful downtown amenities.  A total of 61 condos.  What is 2 over 2?  Well, you will have an owner downstairs and an owner upstairs.  They will be individual units.  A little history for you folks not from Wake Forest....that building was originally built for a grocery store called Lyons.  John Lyon actually had 2 lions outside the store for a time.

Forestville Road will be getting a new car wash named Sonny's.

Schools!!!  Thales Academy has approval for 37,151 square feet for elementary and secondary education.  This will be at the intersection of Averette Road and NC 98.

Grove 98 North.  Better known as "Across the Highway from Wegmans".  LOL.  The request is for 354 multifamily units among some additional commercial.

For those on the other side of Capital Boulevard...  Tru Hotel on Wake Union Church Road is well underway.  A wonderful flag brought to our burgeoning town by a local developer.

Across from Sheetz on the northwest corner .... there are so many rumors flying around about many different uses.  I can confirm the Butcher's Market is coming there.  YES, that Butcher's Market.  Here is what else I can tell you....stay tuned!  LOLOL

Rumors are that a Wake Forest Food Hall is planned for the other warehouse near the Loading Dock.  How cool would that be?  With the ever growing population, Wake Forest is really growing up and offering so much.  So many moved here for the same reasons that those that are moving here today.  So many are complaining about the growth but must remember, before they got here, the locals were complaining about you!  LOL. I am trying to bring some humor.  Fact is we live in a special place.  It may grow to a size that cause some to leave and others to come.  One thing is for sure, the amenities continue to find us here as our population demands it.
